Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick will reportedly only be able to bring new players in on loan in January, as the Glazers approach the window pragmatically.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has reportedly been told that the club can only make loan signings in January as they take a pragmatic approach.

The Red Devils have been linked with players such as Kingsley Coman, Jules Kounde and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but if any players are to arrive at Old Trafford in the mid-season window, they are expected to be brought in initially on a temporary basis.

United were one of the biggest spenders in the Premier League in the summer, bringing in Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo, whose wages exploit the reduced price tag.

Football Insider reports that the Glazers believe that it is in the best interest of the club to approach January's window with a loan focus as the report suggests that the owners are yet to be fully convinced by Rangnick's judgement.

It had been expected that the interim manager would have been given some freedom next month to bring in some permanent signings, considering that he will be handed a consultant job with the club for two years after this season, but Man United look to have a different plan in mind.

Man United's last two Premier League matches have been cancelled due to COVID-19, and they are next scheduled to play against Newcastle on 27 December.
