Jesse Lingard 'made to wait for new lucrative Manchester United contract'

Lingard 'made to wait for contract'

Manchester United reportedly have no plans to offer Jesse Lingard a new contract just yet as manager Louis van Gaal wants the winger to continue proving himself.

The 22-year-old has been influential in United's last two games, and scored his first senior goal in the Red Devils' 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

Lingard is believed to be the lowest-paid player in the first team on £8,000 a week and there were rumblings that the England Under-21 international would be handed fresh terms.

However, according to the Daily Star, Lingard will have to wait for a new contract as Van Gaal is wary of offering the young player too much too soon.

The winger joined the club when he was seven years old.
