Will Keane's loan move from Manchester United to Crystal Palace delayed

Owen Coyle confirms that Wigan Athletic's loan capture of Manchester United youngster Will Keane has been delayed.

Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle has revealed that the club's proposed loan move for Manchester United youngster Will Keane has been delayed.

The 20-year-old was said to be close to a switch to the DW Stadium.

However, a foot injury that he picked up with the England Under-21 side this week has caused the Premier League champions to remain cautious over the forward.

"It is fair to say we have a verbal agreement with Manchester United regarding Will," Coyle told BBC Radio Manchester. "He was away with the Under-21s this week and took a slight knock, so I spoke to David Moyes last night.

"Given the lad had a very serious injury we would always be guided by them in terms of when they think it is the right time for him to come out on loan.

"This week would probably be too soon but if the Manchester United doctor is happy with it, there is a possibility we could have that sorted by next week."

Keane was absent for the entire campaign last season due to a knee injury he picked up while performing for the England Under-19s.
