The Norwegian has suffered another injury setback, following groin surgery in the summer.
It is believed that King has suffered a reoccurrence of an earlier strain and therefore could return to Old Trafford to seek treatment.
King, 19, has appeared just once in the United first team since joining the club in 2008.
