Roma manager Jose Mourinho reportedly wants Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos to join the Serie A side, after the 35-year-old becomes a free agent at the end of June.

Roma manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly set his sights on signing Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos, who will leave the Bernabeu on a free transfer this summer.

The 35-year-old is set for an exit from Los Blancos after 16 years of service because the club could not agree new terms with the centre-back, following a disagreement over his salary.

Ramos will become a free agent at the end of this month and he has attracted interest from many top European clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City and AC Milan.

However, according to Calciomercato, Serie A side Roma are also showing interest in Ramos, who could be reunited with his former boss from Real Madrid if he was to move to the Italian capital.

Despite Mourinho's wish to work with the stalwart defender again, Roma will have to overcome some barriers to seal Ramos's signature, most notably the Spaniard's hefty salary and the fact that they did not qualify for next season's Champions League.

Since arriving at Los Blancos in 2005, Ramos has scored 101 goals in 671 appearances for the club, helping them to 22 trophies along the way.
