Evans plans long United stay

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has declared that he wants to spend the rest of his playing career at Old Trafford.

Evans signed a new contract in December, committing his future to United until 2016.

The Northern Ireland international believes that spending his entire career with United is a tall order but feels that it would be a remarkable achievement.

He said: "I'd like to end my career with United. I've had my loan spells over the years but I've come through the academy here and now I'm in the first team.

"When I was younger, clubs were asking me to go on trial from about the age of ten. I never went to any other club. I knew Manchester United was the place where I wanted to play football.

"So to play here throughout my career would be something I would look to do, I'd love to do it."

The 26-year-old has been virtually ever-present for United this season, making 20 appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson's side in all competitions.
