Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the arrival of Swiss defender Manuel Akanji from Basel on a four-and-a-half-year contract.
The 22-year-old has attracted interest from a number of European clubs this month, having also been tipped to join Premier League sides Liverpool and Manchester United.
Dortmund were always seen as favourites to land Akanji, however, and the four-cap Switzerland international has now officially put pen to paper at the Westfalenstadion.
BVB sporting director Michael Zorc told the club's official website: "Manuel's performances put him on the radar of a number of top European clubs, and we're delighted that he's chosen to join us.
"He has already demonstrated at international and Champions League level that he can play at the highest level in Europe."
Akanji, a part of Basel's double-winning side last season, will reportedly cost Dortmund around £20m to sign.
