Cantona: 'United should sign Wesley Sneijder'

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona believes that his former side should sign Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder.

The former French striker was speaking ahead of Paul Scholes’s testimonial, where his New York Cosmos side take on the Red Devils at Old Trafford on Friday.

“Wes Sneijder is one of the best, he will be great for the team,” the director of soccer said.

“Sneijder is an excellent player. He is what Manchester United needs. There's no-one like him right now. He's strong, and sometimes he reminds me of myself."

Sir Alex Ferguson earlier this week refused to rule out the possibility of the player joining the club.

"I don't know anything because it is all newspapers. Newspapers talk this way, but we have not said anything," he said.

"Well, we always try to improve. But at this moment there is nothing concrete."
