Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez refuses to be drawn on David de Gea speculation

Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez refuses to be drawn on speculation linking Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea to the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez has refused to discuss the potential arrival of goalkeeper David de Gea from Manchester United this summer.

The Spaniard is believed to be wanted by the La Liga giants, who recently offloaded shot-stopper Iker Casillas to Porto.

It has been widely reported that United are refusing to cave to Madrid's demands and there are suggestions that De Gea will wait until next summer when he is available on a free transfer.

When asked about the speculation during Madrid's pre-season tour in Melbourne, Benitez said: "De Gea is not our player at the moment and that is not our subject at the moment.

"We have some great goalkeepers here at Real Madrid. [Keylor] Navas is our number one at the moment. I have spoken to him. He is more experienced than our other keepers so he is at the front."

United were reportedly open to considering a deal that would result in Sergio Ramos arriving at Old Trafford, but Madrid are said to be keen to keep hold of their defender.
