Benfica coach Jorge Jesus has expressed his desire to retain the services of Ezequiel Garay.
The Argentine defender has been linked with a summer move to Manchester United, while Russian club Zenit St Petersburg, who can sign players up until the end of February, are also thought to be interested.
However, Jesus has insisted that if it were left up to him, the 27-year-old will remain at the Estadio da Luz.
"Garay is very important for us," he told reporters. "My desire is that no footballer leaves the club, but it depends on the directors."
The centre-back joined Benfica from Real Madrid back in 2011.
