Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic is reportedly still firmly on Manchester United's radar, with the Red Devils looking to bring a new striker to the club before the end of the summer transfer window.
Man United have spent big on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer, with the pair expected to operate as the number 10s in Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 system.
Rasmus Hojlund, Chido Obi and Joshua Zirkzee are currently the centre-forward options ahead of the new season, and Amorim is said to be determined to bring in a new player in that area of the field before the market closes for business, but it will be difficult for financial reasons.
Moves for Newcastle United's Alexander Isak, RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson are seen as unlikely due to the numbers involved.
Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins is a target, but the England international would cost in the region of £60m, so the 20-time English champions may be forced to look elsewhere.
Vlahovic 'remains a transfer target' for Man United
According to Fichajes, Vlahovic is firmly on Man United's radar, with the Serbia international set to leave Turin before this summer's transfer window closes for business.
Vlahovic, who is also being linked with Atletico Madrid, scored 17 goals and registered five assists in 44 appearances for the Old Lady during the 2024-25 campaign.
In total, the 25-year-old has 58 goals and 14 assists in 145 matches for Juventus, following on from the 49 goals and eight assists that he managed in 108 games for Fiorentina.
It has not quite happened for Vlahovic in Turin, and it is understood that he could be available for as little as £20m due to the fact that his contract is due to expire next summer.
Amorim refusing to panic over striker situation
Man United head coach Amorim has insisted that he would be "happy" to start the season without signing a centre-forward despite the glaring absence in the squad.
"They can play as a striker," Amorim said of Cunha and Mbeumo when questioned on the club's striker pursuit during his press conference on Friday. "We have Josh, we have Rasmus, so our focus is to improve the connection between them. I don't know if the positions are there for them. They have to work.
"They have other players that are fighting for that position. But again, I'm really pleased. Because they proved that the goals that they have, they are really humble. That is really important.
"And the best thing is that they chose to be here. They had other options, Champions League options. And they read everything people say about our club in the moment. But they chose to be here and that is a key point for me.
"At the moment, we need to be really careful when we sign a player. If we have to start the season with this squad, then I'm happy because all the players want to be here. That is the most important thing."
Man United had goalscoring problems during the 2024-25 campaign, and they drew a blank in their opening friendly of the summer last weekend, drawing 0-0 with Leeds United.
