Al-Nassr president Musalli Al Muammar denies that he has spoken to Cristiano Ronaldo over a move to the club.

Al-Nassr president Musalli Al Muammar has denied that he has spoken to Cristiano Ronaldo over a move to the club.

The 37-year-old is currently searching for a new team, having seen his contract at Manchester United terminated last month following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

Al-Nassr continue to be heavily linked with the Portugal international, with the Saudi Arabian club said to be prepared to make him the highest-paid footballer of all time.

Various reports in recent weeks have claimed that Ronaldo has been offered a deal worth in the region of £173m a year to make the move to the club.

However, Al Muammar has denied that he has spoken to the attacker over a switch to Saudi Arabia.

"Cristiano was busy recently with the World Cup and I didn't expect him to negotiate with anyone," he told SSC Sports. "We will not speak about other players, I wish the best to Cristiano with any decision."

Ronaldo had been expected to see out the rest of the season at Man United before leaving the club on a free transfer next year.

However, the Red Devils were forced to act following the forward's interview with Morgan, and he gave up in the region of £16m in wages by leaving Old Trafford at the end of November.

Ronaldo became the first men's player to score in five World Cups when he found the back of the net in Portugal's clash with Ghana on November 24.

The striker then drew blanks against Uruguay and South Korea before he was dropped to the bench for his country's last-16 clash with Switzerland and quarter-final with Morocco.

Ronaldo is believed to have firm interest from Saudi Arabia, but he is allegedly struggling to attract offers from European clubs despite his status as one of the most successful players of all time.

Meanwhile, according to AS, Ronaldo's relationship with his agent Jorge Mendes has broken down.

Mendes was tasked with securing an exit for his client during the summer transfer window, but he was unable to generate a suitable offer from a European club.

The report claims that the relationship between the two individuals has become 'increasingly strained', with Ronaldo no longer taking the advice of his agent.

The duo are said to be 'going through a rocky spell', with clubs now contacting the player directly to register their interest rather than going through Mendes, who has been in charge of Ronaldo's transfer dealings since 2003.
