Team News: Juan Mata drops out for Man United

Jesse Lingard replaces Spanish playmaker Juan Mata in the Manchester United side for tonight's encounter away at Newcastle United.

Juan Mata has dropped out of the Manchester United starting lineup for tonight's trip to Newcastle United.

It is the first time that the Spaniard, who has been replaced by Jesse Lingard, has been omitted by Louis van Gaal for a Premier League game this season.

Aside from that, Van Gaal has made two other alterations from the side that laboured to a 1-0 win over Sheffield United in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Morgan Schneiderlin and Ashley Young have been recalled, with Bastian Schweinsteiger and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson making way.

As for the hosting Magpies, captain Fabricio Coloccini is included, having been a doubt because of a hamstring problem.

New signings Henri Saivet and Jonjo Shelvey did not complete their moves in time to feature for Newcastle, but both will be unveiled to the crowd just before kickoff.

Newcastle United: Elliot; Janmaat, Mbemba, Coloccini, Dummett; Sissoko, Colback, Tiote, Wijnaldum; Perez, Mitrovic
