Zinedine Zidane: 'I am never going to be Real Madrid's Alex Ferguson'

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has suggested that he does not intend to stay in charge of the Spanish giants for the long term.

Zinedine Zidane has raised doubts over his long-term future by admitting that he is "never going to be Real Madrid's Sir Alex Ferguson".

Back-to-back victories over Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach this week have eased some of the pressure that had been building on the Frenchman.

Asked about his future following Wednesday's 2-0 win over Gladbach, however, Zidane referenced Manchester United's legendary manager Ferguson, who spent 26 years at Old Trafford.

"I am never going to be Madrid's Ferguson, that's for sure," he told reporters. "I don't know how long I am going to stay here, I don't think about it.

"I am very lucky to be at this club and I like being happy even in the most difficult times. I have lived in Spain, in Madrid for a long time and I want to carry on a while longer.

"Madrid come through under pressure, without pressure ... well, that doesn't exist here! We cannot play well all the time."

Madrid are through to the last 16 of the Champions League and face fierce rivals Atletico Madrid, who lead the way in La Liga, on Saturday afternoon.
