Sir Alex Ferguson says that he will discuss any issues that Rio Ferdinand may have with shaking John Terry's hand when Manchester United meet Chelsea on Sunday.

Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he will discuss any issues Rio Ferdinand has with facing John Terry before Manchester United travel to Chelsea on Sunday.

Terry has been charged with racially abusing Ferdinand's brother Anton and it is the first time the England duo will have met since.

The Chelsea centre-back, who was earlier today stripped of the England captaincy, may not even feature on Sunday as he is nursing a knee problem.

"Terry might not play but I would have a word with Rio about the situation," said the United boss.

"Rio has been fighting racism for many years and the lad must rise above it.

"It doesn't detract from anything to shake John Terry's hand. [Rio] has done nothing to be ashamed of."

Chelsea will be desperate for a win as they look to cement their place in the Premier League's top four.
