Rio Ferdinand 'ready to shake hands with John Terry'

Rio Ferdinand will reportedly shake hands with John Terry and Ashley Cole when Manchester United take on Chelsea this weekend.

Rio Ferdinand is reportedly ready to shake hands with John Terry and Ashley Cole to bring an end to the race row the players have been caught up in.

The trio will find themselves on opposing sides when Manchester United take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday but Ferdinand is hoping to quell hostilities off the pitch, according to The Mirror.

Ferdinand and his brother Anton released a statement earlier today calling for the PFA to step up its efforts to tackle racism in football and make amendments to the Kick it Out campaign.

The rift began when Terry was accused of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand when Chelsea clashed with Queens Park Rangers last season.

Terry was cleared of the offence in a court of law, but found guilty following an FA hearing and slapped with a fine and four-match ban.
