Premier League Team of the Week - Thomas Partey, Hakim Ziyech, Jamie Vardy

Sports Mole selects its Premier League team of the week for gameweek seven, including Thomas Partey, Hakim Ziyech and Jamie Vardy.

Champions Liverpool are back at the top of the Premier League table after gameweek seven of the season, courtesy of another come-from-behind Anfield victory - this time over West Ham United.

The Reds leapfrogged Merseyside rivals Everton as a result of the Toffees' defeat at Newcastle United on Sunday, while Arsenal ended their away hoodoo to fellow 'big six' sides by beating Manchester United at Old Trafford later in the day.

Leicester City moved up to second with an impressive 4-1 win at Leeds United, and the goals also flowed freely at Villa Park where Southampton beat Aston Villa 4-3.

There were also victories for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, while Fulham got off the mark with a valuable 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Leicester produced arguably the most impressive result of the gameweek with a four-goal show at Elland Road, but at the other end they were indebted to Kasper Schmeichel, who made three saves - including two fine ones to deny Patrick Bamford - to beat Sheffield United's Aaron Ramsdale to the gloves in this XI.

Ramsdale made seven saves to keep the score down against Man City, but there was nothing he could do about Kyle Walker's winner as the boyhood Sheffield United fan came back to haunt his former club with a fine strike from range.

In fact, it was a good scoring week for full-backs in general with Tariq Lamptey and Ola Aina netting from right-back and Rayan Ait-Nouri marking his Wolves debut with a well-taken goal on the opposite flank.

There were plenty of goals from centre-back too - Jannik Vestergaard, Tyrone Mings and Kurt Zouma all getting on the scoresheet - but of those the latter is the only one to make the cut having also helped Chelsea to a clean sheet against Burnley.

Liverpool's Nat Phillips and Zouma's teammate Thiago Silva also deserve mentions, but Gabriel Magalhaes gets the final spot in the back four courtesy of a towering display against Manchester United, making more tackles than any other player on the pitch.

Indeed, Gabriel was only outshone by Thomas Partey, who once again earned comparisons with Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira following an all-action and all-round outstanding performance at the heart of the Gunners midfield.

Arguably the standout performance of the entire gameweek came from Southampton skipper James Ward-Prowse, who set up the opening goal with a free kick before scoring two super direct ones himself as Southampton raced into a four-goal lead at Villa.

Dean Smith's side did launch a fightback in the final half an hour and, while it fell just short, Jack Grealish's contribution in that period is enough to earn him a spot having scored one, created another and also won a penalty for his side.

Youri Tielemans can consider himself unfortunate to miss out following his two-goal showing, while the likes of Jordan Henderson, N'Golo Kante, Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence all deserve mentions too.

It is a Chelsea duo that makes up the three attackers behind the main striker, though, as Mason Mount takes the number 10 role and Hakim Ziyech, who scored one and created another at Turf Moor, starts on the right.

Timo Werner and Diogo Jota were also in contention for those positions, and there was plenty of competition for the centre-forward role too, with Callum Wilson, Danny Ings, Ollie Watkins, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Harry Kane unfortunate to miss out.

Jamie Vardy takes the number nine spot, though, having helped himself to another goal and assist during the win at Leeds; he has now been directly involved in 13 goals from his last 12 Premier League games.
