How Manchester United could line up against Brentford

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has a big decision to make when it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo for Saturday's Premier League clash with Brentford.

The Red Devils suffered a 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in their campaign opener last weekend, putting pressure on the new manager to pick up a victory against the Bees.

Ronaldo came on in the second half of the game with the Seagulls amid the speculation surrounding his future, and the Portugal international could now be considered for a start.

Anthony Martial missed out last weekend due to a hamstring problem, and the France international will again be unavailable for selection in this game.

Facundo Pellistri, Victor Lindelof and Brandon Williams will miss out through injury, while Mason Greenwood remains suspended by the 20-time English champions.

Ten Hag is expected to resist the temptation to make wholesale changes for this match, so the likes of Raphael Varane and Tyrell Malacia might have to accept spots on the bench once again.

However, a start for Ronaldo could lead to Scott McTominay being dropped from the starting side, with Christian Eriksen moving deeper alongside Fred and Bruno Fernandes.

Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford both found it difficult to impress in the team's campaign opener last weekend, but the English pair should again feature in the wide positions.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Dalot, Maguire, L Martinez, Shaw; Eriksen, Fred, Fernandes; Sancho, Ronaldo, Rashford
