Ashley Young has insisted that he is happy to play in the wing-back role for Manchester United.
Throughout the majority of his career, the 29-year-old has operated as a winger or an advanced midfielder.
However, speaking after last night's penalty-shootout win over Inter Milan in the USA, Young has revealed that he has no qualms about playing in a more defensive position under the management of new boss Louis van Gaal.
"It's been good to play in the different positions. I started on the left [against Inter] and ended up on the right. I can play in both wing-back positions and if the manager calls on me to do something I've got every confidence in myself to go out there and play well," he told the club's official website.
Young joined United from Aston Villa during the summer of 2011.
