Dwight Yorke: 'Manchester derby is biggest game in English football'

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke believes that the derby against Manchester City is a bigger game than meetings with Liverpool now.

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has said that he believes the Manchester derby is the biggest game in England.

United are currently gearing up to visit fierce rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Monday in a fixture that is widely regarded as the biggest in the English calendar.

However, Yorke believes that United's games against local rivals Manchester City are now bigger since the blue half of the city established themselves as title challengers.

"It's a game full of history and rivalry, but perhaps not so much in the modern day," Yorke told 888sport.

"This was the game we all looked forward to in my day, but now with the two Manchester clubs being where they are that is the bigger game.

"I'm sure there will be one or two people disappointed in me saying that; the Liverpool game still have the intensity and history, but the derby is bigger now."

Yorke also backed the Red Devils to get something from their visit to Anfield if manager Jose Mourinho gets his team selection right.
