Woodward 'holds crisis talks with Solskjaer'

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward reportedly held crisis talks with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the club's training ground this week.

The Daily Mail reports that the meeting between Woodward, Solskjaer and assistant boss Mike Phelan took place at the Red Devils' Carrington training base at lunchtime on Thursday.

As part of the frank discussions, it is claimed that Woodward wanted to get to the bottom of United's deepening problems following a run of seven losses in nine matches.

Defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday evening leaves United at serious risk of missing out on Champions League football next season, as they sit three points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea with three games to go.

There are said to be concerns about Solskjaer's selection decisions for the Manchester derby, and Woodward is also alarmed that the lineup was leaked well before kickoff.

United are in the midst of their worst run of results in 57 years, emphasising the need for a major overhaul in the summer.
