Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney: 'I had a bad game against Swansea City'

Wayne Rooney admits that he had a "bad game" in Manchester United's defeat to Swansea City at Old Trafford last Saturday.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has admitted that he didn't perform well in his side's opening Premier League defeat to Swansea City last Saturday.

The England international led Louis van Gaal's team out in their first competitive match since Rooney was named skipper, but it ended in a 2-1 loss at Old Trafford.

Despite finding the back of the net against the Swans, Rooney was left unhappy by his performance on the field.

"I just had a bad game against Swansea," the Manchester Evening News quotes Rooney as saying. "I was the first to say that when I got into the dressing room. I didn't play well. You have those days."

Next up for United is a trip to the Stadium of Light to play Sunderland on Sunday.
