Louis van Gaal: 'Bastian Schweinsteiger will bring experience to Man United'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says that new signing Bastian Schweinsteiger will bring a "wealth of experience" to the side following his move from Bayern.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has insisted that Bastian Schweinsteiger's experience will push the club forward following the German's arrival.

The World Cup winner signed a three-year deal with the Red Devils on Monday after joining from Bayern Munich for a reported £14m fee.

Van Gaal was in charge of the midfielder at Bayern during his two-year stint with the Bundesliga giants and is confident that the 30-year-old will make his mark in the team.

"Bastian is, of course, no stranger to me," Van Gaal told the club's official website. "I worked with him during my time at Bayern Munich and I am truly delighted he is joining Manchester United.

"His record speaks for itself - he has won every honour at club level and was a major part of the successful Germany World Cup-winning team last summer.

"Bastian is the ultimate professional and there is no doubting his talent and his ability to control games. He brings a wealth of experience and is an excellent addition to our squad."

The Premier League giants also completed the capture of Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton.
