Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is confident that youngster Andreas Pereira will become an "integral" member of the first team in the future.
The 19-year-old signed a new three-year deal on Friday, with the option of a further year included.
Van Gaal gave Pereira his senior debut in United's 4-0 defeat to MK Dons in the League Cup in August, and his first Premier League appearance in their 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in March.
"I am delighted that Andreas has signed a new contract," Van Gaal told the club's official website. "Andreas has all the attributes to become an integral part of the first team; great natural talent coupled with a good appetite to learn.
"I am pleased with his progression so far this season and look forward to working with him to develop his talent even further."
Pereira joined the North-West club's academy in 2011.
