Valencia relinquishes number seven shirt

Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia has relinquished the number seven shirt ahead of the new season.

The Ecuador international has decided to drop the famous shirt and take his old number 25 jersey back.

Valencia specifically requested the seven shirt last season, but did not enjoy the best of form as United secured their 20th league title.

The news will add to the rumours that the Premier League champions are looking to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club.

Valencia is on the bench for this afternoon's Community Shield clash at Wembley.
