Souness: 'Pogba does not work hard enough'

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been told by Graeme Souness to "work harder" if he is to fulfil his potential.

Graeme Souness has insisted that his recent criticism of Paul Pogba is justified as the Manchester United midfielder still does not work hard enough.

Liverpool legend Souness has been the Frenchman's harshest critic in recent times, leading to an exchange of words between the two men in April.

Pogba has hit the ground running since returning from a long-term foot injury with impressive displays against Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United.

However, Souness feels that the 27-year-old can still offer more if he is to fulfil his potential at Old Trafford.

"I get hammered for it," he told Sky Sports News. "I am not going to say I am a fan of him, I am a fan of his talent.

"Midfield is the only position on the pitch where someone wants to do the exact same job you're doing. I am a fan of his ability. But I want him to work harder."

United's 3-0 win over Sheff Utd on Wednesday moved them back to within two points of fourth-place Chelsea, who play their game in hand against Manchester City on Thursday.
