Bastian Schweinsteiger: 'Manchester United always want titles'

Bastian Schweinsteiger says that Manchester United will refuse to settle for a top-four place this season.

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has dismissed suggestions that they cannot win the Premier League title this term.

Back-to-back victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa have given Louis van Gaal's men a perfect start to their new campaign, and Schweinsteiger has played down talk that they are only targeting a top-four finish.

"It's not time to say that we're going to win the Premier League, but you always want titles," he told former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves for BT Sport.

"A club like for Manchester United should always play for titles and not for positions [in the top four].

"Last year there was a World Cup and I had some problems with my left knee, but this summer I had no injuries and I was happy with my situation."

United return to domestic action when they host Newcastle United on August 22.
