Peter Schmeichel chooses Fred as his Manchester United Player of the Season

Club legend Peter Schmeichel has selected Fred as his Manchester United Player of the Season.

The Brazilian midfielder has enjoyed a far better second campaign at Old Trafford, having struggled to adapt in his first 12 months after arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Fred, who set United back around £52m, has appeared 38 times in all competitions this term and has been directly involved in six Premier League goals.

Asked during a Q&A session on Twitter whom he believes has been United's best player this term, Schmeichel replied: "Fred."

Fred made only 17 top-flight appearances under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season.
