Coleen Rooney, wife of Manchester United striker Wayne, received a death threat on Twitter after congratulating Liverpool on their Carling Cup win.

The 25-year-old Liverpudlian expressed her delight after United's arch rivals clinched their first trophy in six years by tweeting: "Congratulations Liverpool!!!"

The message sparked outrage among Man United fans, with one user posting: "I used to like you and now I want all your family to burn."

Red Devils frontman Rooney, who grew up supporting Everton, has not commented on the incident.
