Wayne Rooney named in Manchester United squad to face Swansea City

Manchester United manager David Moyes includes Wayne Rooney in his squad for tomorrow's Premier League opener against Swansea City.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been included in the squad for tomorrow's Premier League opener against Swansea City.

The 27-year-old has played just 45 minutes for United during pre-season in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Real Betis amid persistent rumours that the forward wants to leave Old Trafford.

After starting for England against Scotland on Wednesday, United boss David Moyes has decided that Rooney is fit enough for the trip to Swansea, with the 27-year-old likely to be named as a substitute.

Moyes has opted to include Rooney with doubts surrounding the fitness of Javier Hernandez for tomorrow's match at the Liberty Stadium, with the Mexican struggling with a thigh problem.

Moyes has consistently insisted that Rooney is not for sale this summer ahead of his first league game in charge, rejecting two separate offers for the club's fourth-highest all time scorer from Chelsea.
