Qatari takeover rumours hit Manchester United

The Qatari royal family is lining up a £1.5bn bid to take over Manchester United, reports suggest.

An official approach to current owners the Glazer family is being made and a deal could be settled by next week, according to The Mirror.

Qatar is slowly announcing its arrival on the world football scene, with a successful World Cup 2022 bid and owners buying into Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish club Malaga.

Many United fans have been angered by the way the club has been run by the controversial Glazer family, resulting in the widespread wearing of green and gold protest scarves.
