The Premier League will reportedly not scrap handshakes between Manchester United and Chelsea, despite Rio Ferdinand's likely snub of John Terry.

The Premier League have decided not to scrap the pre-match handshakes between Manchester United and Chelsea on Sunday, despite the likelihood of Rio Ferdinand refusing to shake John Terry's hand.

Reports have claimed that the Red Devils defender is expected to snub the pre-match formality in defence of his brother, Queens Park Rangers' Anton Ferdinand, who is an alleged victim of racial abuse from the Chelsea captain.

While the Football Association chose to stop the traditional handshake for the Blues' 1-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over QPR last week, the Premier League will take no such action, according to the Daily Star.

The England skipper discovered yesterday that he will stand trial over racism charges from July 9 after pleading not guilty via his lawyers at Westminster Magistrates' Court.
