Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hits out at "lies" surrounding Paul Pogba

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hits out at "lies" surrounding Paul Pogba

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hit out at the "lies" surrounding Paul Pogba's conduct in the aftermath of last weekend's 5-0 home defeat to Liverpool.

The France international was sent off 15 minutes after entering the field against the Reds following a late challenge on Naby Keita.

A report claimed that Pogba, who continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford as his contract runs down, had apologised to his teammates for his red card but decided to snub Solskjaer.

The World Cup winner took to social media to firmly deny the claim, though, and now the Man United boss has had his say on the incident.

"We can't accept when lies are made up. Paul told me what he put up out on his social media account. We're better than that, as a group, the culture is better here, the environment is better, when it's blatant lies they've got to stand up and say so. Opinions and reports, fine, but don't make up lies about me," Solskjaer told reporters.

"The players come in, proper professionals, come in, good people. As I said, we have the environment in and around the place, we have loads of respect for each other.

"When you come in for criticism like you do you come into the trenches with your teammates, and that reaction I've seen this week. Whatever this club has been through before, it's about getting through with courage, self-belief, sticking together and this group has done."

Pogba will be suspended for Saturday's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur, but Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial and Amad Diallo have all been passed fit following recent injuries.
