Jose Mourinho: 'Luke Shaw must develop his game'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says that Luke Shaw still needs to "develop" his game after coming back into contention for the match at Crystal Palace.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he does not expect Luke Shaw to be "perfect" at this stage of his career.

Earlier this season, performances and injuries resulted in Shaw being singled out by Mourinho, and the United boss has reiterated that the left-back needs to "develop" his game.

However, with Shaw back in contention for the Premier League game at Crystal Palace, Mourinho has acknowledged that he did not expect the England international to be the finished article at 22 years of age.

The Portuguese told reporters: "He needs to improve. That is normal. He is a kid; I am not expecting a young player to be perfect.

"A young player makes mistakes and has things to learn and develop. He needs to do that."

Shaw has made 13 appearances for United in all competitions this season.
