Jose Mourinho pleased for Jesse Lingard, Ander Herrera

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reveals that he was pleased that Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera were called into the latest England and Spain squads.

Jose Mourinho has said that Manchester United are "proud" of Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera for becoming the latest players to make the step into international football.

Lingard made his England debut against Malta during the recent international break and also played the full 90 minutes in his nation's goalless draw with Slovenia last time out.

Herrera, meanwhile, was included in the Spain squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Italy and Albania, although the 27-year-old did not make an appearance for Julen Lopetegui's side.

"I like my players to go to the international teams," Mourinho told MUTV. "I know that other managers don't like it. I know that other managers they even try to stop them to go. I know there is sometimes also a bit of a fake injury to stop people to go. I'm not like that. I'm always very proud of my players to be selected.

"And especially these two that you refer to. One was a debutant, the other was a call-up to the Spanish team. It's obviously important for them and it's good for me and I think also the club feels proud of it."

Man United will continue their Premier League campaign with a trip to Liverpool on Monday night.
