Juan Mata thrilled by Manchester United character

Juan Mata hails his Man United teammates after coming from a goal down to beat local rivals Manchester City 4-2.

Juan Mata has paid tribute to his Manchester United teammates after they came from behind to beat Manchester City 4-2 at Old Trafford this afternoon.

Sergio Aguero opened the scoring after eight minutes as City threatened to snatch a fifth successive derby-day win over their bitter rivals.

Louis van Gaal's side responded well as Ashley Young and Marouane Fellaini flipped the game on its head by half time, before Mata and Chris Smalling added second-half goals.

"In the first 10 or 15 minutes City were brilliant, but after that we showed character and came back," the Spaniard told Sky Sports News.

"It was a massive result and everyone from United is happy.

"The atmosphere was crazy, it's something we will never forget. We have six games to go and have to keep going."

Victory saw third-placed United move four points clear of their city rivals in fourth.
