Juan Mata: 'Eric Cantona a Manchester United legend'

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has said that former United man Eric Cantona is a "true legend" within the Old Trafford club.

Sunday marked 25 years since the Red Devils signed Cantona from Leeds United for £1.2m, with the Frenchman going on to score 64 goals in 143 appearances for the side in a five-year stay in the city.

"This past Sunday marked the 25th anniversary to the day since Eric Cantona arrived at Manchester United," the Mata wrote in a blog post.

"He's a true legend, and his personality makes him an idol to all the United fans even today. A different player, an artist.

"It would've been great to share the dressing room with him. I have a personal admiration for Eric."

United are currently eight points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City..
