Manchester United forward Anthony Martial admits that he is 'annoyed' by his lack of game time this season having started just seven Premier League games.

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has admitted that he is 'annoyed' with his lack of game time so far this season.

The 21-year-old has made just seven Premier League starts from a possible 16 under Jose Mourinho and was left out of the squad entirely for Wednesday's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Martial's form has been questioned this season, with the France international scoring just one goal in the league so far, but he pointed out that he still has age on his side as he looks to gain a regular place in United's starting XI.

"It's annoying to be on the bench. It's truly annoying but it's a test you have to overcome and that's how you progress," he told SFR Sport.

"It's difficult because all you want is to be able to help the team and, when you're on the bench, you can't. But these are choices and you have to accept it.

"People expect a lot of me but sometimes they forget I'm still young. Everyone can think what they want. It won't change anything."

Martial is expected to return to the matchday squad for Saturday's clash with West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
