Manchester United 'exploring ways to sack Cristiano Ronaldo'

Manchester United are reportedly exploring ways to sack Cristiano Ronaldo after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

The club are waiting to see the full interview which is to be released on Wednesday and Thursday after damning snippets were released on social media earlier this week.

The 37-year-old took aim at manager Erik ten Hag, the club's ownership, facilities and former legends such as Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville in a controversial interview.

The Daily Mail reports that club lawyers are studying the claims to establish if there is any grounds for a dismissal on a breach of contract.

The report states that the club could also agree to terminate the player's £500,000-a-week contract, however Ronaldo would receive a substantial payout or United would have to subsidise his wages if he moved to another club as a free agent, therefore this option is unlikely with the club unwilling to 'reward disloyalty'.

The Portuguese international, who is currently with his country at the World Cup in Qatar, is widely expected to leave Man United one way or another in January as a result of the interview.
