Man Utd in talks to buy Australian club Central Coast Mariners?
Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Australian club Central Coast Mariners over a potential takeover, to make Man United into a multi-club ownership brand.

Manchester United are reportedly in talks to purchase A-League club Central Coast Mariners, as the Red Devils look to expand their brand.

The blue half of Manchester have already invested in other clubs across the world and have developed Manchester City into a multi-club ownership organisation, and Man United are looking to follow suit.

Purchasing the Mariners will rescue the Australian club as they are struggling financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and affiliating them with one of the most successful teams in Europe will strengthen their accounts.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, gaining approval from Football Australia should not be an issue because it is understood that many are in support of the takeover already.

Man United's assistant coach Mike Phelan connects the two clubs as he was appointed sporting director of the Mariners in 2018.

The report suggests that the takeover will include rebranding and relocation of the A-League side, potentially moving the club from New South Wales to Sydney.

Alen Stajcic's side currently sit top of the A-League, two points clear of second-placed Melbourne City with six games of the regular season to play.
