Manchester United failed to lure Reece Oxford?

Manchester United reportedly attempted to sign West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford last year.

The 16-year-old made the headlines at the weekend when he made his Premier League debut for the Hammers against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils had hoped to entice the versatile defender to Old Trafford in 2014, but the move never materialised.

The report adds that United were just one of a number of clubs that had pursued Oxford, who signed his first professional contract with West Ham in January.
