Manchester United report a revenue figure of £648.4m for the year ending June 30 to surpass their own Premier League record.

Manchester United have reported a record revenue of £648.4m amid uncertainty surrounding the club's ownership.

The club have revealed that they made record earnings after they announced their financial results for the year ending June 30.

Man United confirmed they had achieved a revenue of £648.4m, which was an 11% increase on the previous figure in 2022.

As a result, Man United broke their own Premier League record, surpassing the £627.1m revenue that they reported in 2018-19.

The Red Devils managed to record significant earnings despite competing in the Europa League last season rather than the lucrative Champions League.

Although they announced the impressive figure, the 20-time English champions still announced a loss of £42.1m for the financial year.

Man United also reported long-term debt at $650m, which was the same in US dollars as last year, but it was recorded at a lower amount in sterling (£507.3m) than in 2022 due to the year-on-year change in the exchange rate.

The club's financial results have been released amid uncertainty surrounding the club's ownership after the Glazer family revealed in November last year that they were considering outside investment.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe were the two frontrunners to complete a takeover of the Premier League giants.

However, the Qatari banker, who wanted to purchase 100% of the club, recently pulled out of the race after growing frustrated with negotiations.

Ratcliffe is now in pole position to complete his investment, with the British billionaire expected to pay £1.4bn for a 25% stake in Man United.

The INEOS owner reportedly sees his initial investment as the first step to achieving majority ownership of the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, on the pitch, Man United are preparing to face their local rivals Manchester City in Sunday's derby at Old Trafford.
