Ander Herrera: 'Pep Guardiola be under pressure at Manchester City'

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera welcomes arrival of Pep Guardiola to the Premier League but believes that the pressure on his fellow Spaniard will be huge.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has said that Pep Guardiola will be under plenty of pressure when he takes over down the road at Manchester City.

It was confirmed earlier this week that current Bayern Munich manager Guardiola would replace Manuel Pellegrini in charge of the Citizens at the end of the season.

When asked about his fellow Spaniard taking over at the Etihad, Herrera told Marca: "They're going to make us do better ourselves. Historically, City have always been below United, and this gives them a psychological advantage, because they are coming from behind.

"With Pep, with the multi-million pound outlay they've made and will spend with him, I expect the pressure to be higher for them. The fans are going to expect a lot: that they win the Premier League with a 10-point gap, that they reach the Champions League final.

"Pep seems a phenomenon to me. His teams always entertain me a lot, but at City the expectations will be very big."

United were also linked with a move for Guardiola, but Jose Mourinho will reportedly succeed Louis van Gaal if United decide to replace the Dutchman.
