Ryan Giggs: 'Confidence is a problem at Manchester United'

Ryan Giggs admits that "confidence is a problem" at Manchester United, but is hopeful that this summer's new arrivals can boost the team.

Manchester United assistant boss Ryan Giggs has admitted that the team are lacking in confidence, but believes that the club's summer arrivals have given everyone a boost.

The former Premier League champions acquired the signatures of Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Angel di Maria, Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao during the summer.

Last season, the Red Devils fell from champions to seventh spot under David Moyes, who took over from Sir Alex Ferguson last year following the Scotsman's retirement.

This season, the North-West outfit are under the leadership of Louis van Gaal, but the team are yet to win a game.

"Confidence is a problem," Giggs told The Telegraph. "It's not easy at times, especially at Old Trafford where we've not performed really for over a year now. Funnily enough away from home there's not been the same problem.

"We need to get that sorted as quickly as possible. When you see players of that ilk coming into the club it's exciting. Whether you're a player or a coach it gives you a buzz. You want to play with the best players and you certainly want to coach the best."

After the international break, United will take on Queens Park Rangers at Old Trafford on September 14.
