Dermot Gallagher: 'Marouane Fellaini should expect to receive ban'

Former referee Dermot Gallagher says that he expects Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini to receive a ban for his elbow on Leicester City defender Robert Huth.

Former referee Dermot Gallagher has said that he expects Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini to be banned for elbowing Robert Huth in his side's 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

As the pair tussled for a cross delivered into the penalty area, Huth pulled Fellaini's hair before the Belgian twice aimed an elbow at the defender.

The incident was not seen by referee Michael Oliver and the Football Association could take retrospective action, with Gallagher claiming that Fellaini is more likely to receive a suspension for his retaliation.

Gallagher told Sky Sports News: "There are a few things that could happen when you've watched the incident. Robert Huth pulls his hair and Fellaini elbows him.

"The easy one to talk about is the Fellaini one because it is clearly an act of violent conduct and I don't think there is any doubt whatsoever that the FA will charge him and subsequently ban him."

Fellaini could potentially miss United's final three fixtures in the Premier League but he would be available for the FA Cup final with Crystal Palace later this month.
