Sir Alex Ferguson, Juan Mata pick up monthly accolades

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been named Premier League manager of the month for October, while Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata picks up the player award.

Ferguson has taken his side to the top of the Premier League table after victories over Newcastle United, Stoke City and Chelsea last month.

Meanwhile, Blues midfielder Mata scored three league goals in October and has thrived alongside Eden Hazard and Oscar in the early stages of the season.

Next up for United is a trip to Aston Villa at the weekend, while Chelsea entertain Liverpool on Sunday.
