Sir Alex Ferguson insists that he is not envious of Manchester City's millions.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he is not envious of Roberto Mancini's millions at the Etihad Stadium.

The Scot admitted that further funding would help in some respects at Old Trafford but insisted that scouting and structure are much more important to the club's overall success.

"I am not envious of City or the money they have, not at all," he said. "We do well in terms of scouting abroad, reasonably well, in terms of getting young players in so there's not really a lot we can do with money.

"Okay, we could make it even better for us in some respects if we had more money. But I don't look at having more money as an important issue for us at the moment.

"The difference between us and City right now is we have built over a long period, there is a structure here. When the Abu Dhabi people took over, they were looking for instant results which they are getting now. City have had to do it in a quick spell. But I am happy with the structure we have in place here."

The Red Devils are two points behind their local rivals heading into the weekend, but can leapfrog the Citizens with a win at Old Trafford.
