Sir Alex Ferguson says that his side's win at Anfield marked a turning point for Manchester United.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has labelled his side's win over Liverpool as a "turning point".

Goals from Rafael Da Silva and Robin van Persie helped United come from a goal down to beat the Reds 2-1 at Anfield after Steven Gerrard had given the hosts the lead.

The Red Devils have endured some poor recent results at the home of Liverpool, but Ferguson believes that Sunday's victory marked a turning point for his team.

"I thought we were poor," said Ferguson. "Over the last four years we have allowed the [Anfield] crowd to get at us a little bit. They gave fantastic support to their team and they dominated.

"We played better in the second half but it was against 10 men and Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Ryan Giggs's experience got us through.

"We haven't played well here for the past four years and we can do better but at least we got a result. It is a turning point for us."

United's win takes them to second in the Premier League table.
