Sir Alex Ferguson describes Manchester United's defending as "crazy" during their 6-1 loss to Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has criticised his players for being too attack-minded during this afternoon's 6-1 loss to Manchester City.

Ferguson believes that the game turned following the dismissal of Jonny Evans and has revealed that after going down to ten men, his side should have played more defensively.

"The sending off was a killer for us," Ferguson told Sky Sports News. "We kept attacking, even at 4-1 when we should have just thought that we've had our day.

"They were attacking three on two. It was crazy football.

"I would have thought that with the experience of Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra it wouldn't have happened."

United now trail City at the top of the table by five points.
