Sir Alex Ferguson confirms that Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans has added to the growing defensive injury list at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Jonny Evans will miss the next two weeks after sustaining a calf injury at the weekend.

The Irishman was substituted at half time during United's 5-0 demolition of Wigan on Saturday, meaning that Ferguson's injury problems at the back continue to mount.

Evans joins Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Fabio, who are all out either injured or unwell, on the sidelines.

"We have had a nightmare the last few days," said the Glaswegian. "Phil Jones and Chris Smalling have both been ill.

"Rio Ferdinand called off with a back injury and Jonny Evans has come off at half time. It puts you under pressure."

Despite the setback and having to play a makeshift defence comprised of midfielders such as Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia, Ferguson's side are now level on points with Manchester City atop the Premier League.
